Turning Over A New Leaf: An Animal Crossing Walkthrough (1)

Dear Mom,

I miss you already. So many things have happened and I wish I could tell you and Dad, but a letter will have to do instead. I know you guys were skeptical about me having a new start and turning over a new leaf, but I want to tell you I'm fine. Better than fine! The people of this town are really nice! Tell Dad he doesn't have to worry about me and not to be too grouchy and angry with me for leaving. I miss him terribly too.

On the train ride, I met my first friend. His name was Rover. I think he was a he. He was a cat for sure though. On the way, he asked me what time it was, saying that his watch wasn't always so reliable. I told him and after he thanked me, he used it as an opportunity to come and have a conversation with me. Well, I think it was a conversation. He was a mighty curious cat. He kept asking me a bunch of questions like my name, where I was going, why I was going, and which map was the place I was going too. If he wasn't so friendly, I would have thought he would have wanted to steal my identity or something. But he was nice. Before I could ask anything about him in return, we had arrived to my destination, the Town of  Love. :)

Rover
Yes, Mom, the town is called Love. It doesn't make much sense and when Rover asked about it, it sounded really funny cause he was like, "The Town of Love?" I couldn't help but snicker at that a little. If I had Love I wouldn't be moving to a new town. I might have been tied down with my lover, or something like that, or maybe I'll meet love here? but I'm getting off the point here. With the picture of Rover, you will find various other photos that I've taken (or others from the town have taken). Please take a look at them while you're reading.

Arriving at Love
Station Clock
About to take my first step onto Love
Step taken. Not as exciting as I imagined but more!!!

Well I got off and the station and who was there to greet me other than HALF the town! I kid you not mother! It was real!I got off, and get this, everyone thought I was the mayor! I tried to desperately tell them I wasn't, but no one believed me. The Town Hall lady, she's a dog named Isabelle, told me I shouldn't joke around like that. Apparently the Mayor was supposed to arrive at this town at the same time I arrived, and now everyone thinks I'm the Mayor!

 The front of the station
Me closing my eyes cause the sudden sunlight.. actually I blinked. I blink a lot in these photos...
The royal Welcome by half the town
Me trying to explain desperately that I'm not the Mayor.
Instead Isabelle told me to hurry up and go to the town hall with her. She gave me a map and said she would follow me. I have a picture of the map for you to see! The yellow house is me!!!! So I did as I was told and used my new found map to get to the town house. That was the building in purple. I stumbled on over there with Isabelle behind my tail... it sounds weird using tail because everyone in this town has a tail but me... Once inside, she wanted to register my information before I could work as Mayor. Of course that was when she realized (and what I had told Rover) that I didn't have a place to live and she needed my address. Before I could mention anything again about not being Mayor, she told me its okay. That I could visit the local real estate agency here owned by a guy named Tom Nook and he would get that settled for me. So she told me to go off and talk to Tom Nook in the shopping district north past the train station and to come back once I had that settled.

The Town Hall Building
I really had to try sitting on these nice chairs. I was tired and my feet hurt. Looks expensive but the couch back home is much more comfortable!
So yeah, I got out of the building and tried to find my way to the Real Estate Agency. When I walked past the tracks on the train station, I arrived at the shopping mall! Mother there are a bunch of cute little shops here that you can go shopping in! Of course I got distracted and COULDN'T simply go to the real estate agency while there stores to be looked at! There was a little goods store called Nookling Junction and a cute little handmade clothes store called the Able Sisters that also had an accessory store attached to it! It even had a museum! I know you would like that because its educational and you were always telling me to study. Sadly when I was looking around, I noticed that the district was actually very small and the stores tinier. There were trash lying around and closed up places as well. It's really sad. I know I'm not the Mayor, but the past Mayor should have done a better job with the place.

Well, now that my window shopping was done, I stopped by Nook's Home's like I was supposed to. Inside, this chubby Raccoon greeted me who called himself Tom Nook. He was a friendly guy, and just as Rover said I would be (he said I looked like the lucky type) Nook decided to help me right away and get me a home. I actually have a place to stay now! Well... er... almost. He told me to pick the place and he would get it built. So the guy grabbed a yellow parka and told ME to pick the place I wanted the home to be and that it would be done! How cool is that! From my own room at my parents to my own house! Well, more like my own tent! Even though he said he would build me a house, until he could do it, I had to temporarily stay inside of a tent... It was fine. I found a beautiful white rose next to the tent and that made me really happy. White Rose is definitely still my favorite flower. I decided to call her Ophelia and she'll be with be throughout this entire journey!

On our way to pick the location. Nook's yellower parka.
Ta-ta! My tent! And Ophelia!
Well after that was done, Nook told me he would take care of some stuff, including building costs, and he whisked off reminding me to talk to Isabelle again. Remembering my appointment (and guilty for spending so much time in the shopping district) I went back. Isabelle had already talked to Nook during that time and she was recording my address down and finalizing everything. That chubby Raccoon can run. Well now that that was done, Isabelle waned me to plant the town tree! Yup! She still thought I was the Mayor and so before I could utter another denial she grabbed my arm and pulled me to the Town Center and before I knew it, the entire village was around me and I was planting a tree to commemorate the start of my Mayor-hood. Everyone was hoping that the tree would grow as the town prospered because of the actions of the mayor: me. I'm blushing in the last photo, because naturally, I'm embarrassed I'm getting so much praise and expectations when I'm not even the Mayor! Oh Mom, things were a mess and I was worried sick! What if the real Mayor was in the crowd, angry?

Well after that everyone scattered to do their own thing. Isabelle told me good luck and that if I needed help with what to do, just to visit her at Town Hall. When my face wasn't burning anymore, I decided to greet some of my fellow animals. At least the ones that welcomed me! Here are the three.

This is Bud. He's... a bear? I can't really tell. But he's really into working out and stuff. He seemed friendly enough. Of course only time will tell. I really like his glasses though. He seems like a cool guy if you know what I mean hahaha.
Next is Bluebear the Blue Bear and Derwin the Duck. Both are very nice. I didn't get to know too much but both were trying to be helpful and they were very friendly about me. Of course both wanted to know what I would do as Mayor. They didn't believe me when I said I wasn't Mayor....

The town is beautiful. Maybe because you named me Noel and I was born after Christmas, but I really love snow and winter and this place has bounds of it. It's all powdered in white. I'm so glad I decided to come here. The place is beautiful. It also has a natural abundance of cherries. Apparently that is the town's fruit. I happened to move in on the day of the fishing tourney. I would have joined but I didn't have a rod or money to buy one.

Me and the famous Love Cherry Tree or one of many Famous Cherry Trees.

Well I was exhausted so I was going to turn in for a nap. I know mother, You're always telling me I'm lazy but I had just been accused of Mayor, found my home, and planted a tree! So I wanted to nap a little before I began to explore some more. Before I could turn in, Isabelle dropped by and gave me a gift! A lantern! My first piece of furniture! It was very nice of her and it was nice than just being in the dark. Well I'm turning in for my nap now. I'll send the second part of today's letter tonight before I go to bed.

Your Daughter,

Noel

My Tent. Home sweet home?

Animal Crossing New Leaf Walkthrough

I have to decided to do a Walkthrough for Animal Crossing New Leaf for this blog. Now, because it's Animal Crossing, there isn't really a need to do a walkthrough for instructional and education reasons. Because of that, me and Izzy have decided that I will do a story version for Animal Crossing A New Leaf. The character that will be the star of this mini storybook Let's Play is going to be Noel.  I couldn't get a good picture yet, but here is an image of her that I posted on my Miiverse post!

The story is called "Turning Over a New Leaf: An Animal Crossing Walkthrough" It'll be in a series of letters that she writes to her mother who also writes to her everyday. It'll be accompanied with pictures from the game itself that I will take with my 3DS camera. I hope you guys will enjoy the series and come back for more!

Always Guree

P.S. From Noel herself:

Hello readers. I want to thank you ahead of time for accompanying me on this wonderful journey as I set forth to create a wonderful new life in a new town filled with new people. I hope you guys will enjoy my story as I turn over a new leaf and tell me about your own exciting life yourself!

Sincerely,
Noel

Bravely Default Demo Review

Good morning viewers, I'm so glad to have you here today, I haven't posted on here in so long, so it's wonderful to see you all again! Today I'm going to be giving you a review on the game demo for Square Enix's game Bravely Default: Flying Fairy!

So I'm going to start by telling you how excited I am for this game's release which will be on February 7th 2014 for North America. Went ahead and pre-ordered it myself, going to turn that preorder into the collectors edition, get myself an art book and some AR cards. Now I know Guree already posted up an impression on the demo not but a few days ago, but I figured I could throw out my own impressions on the game demo as well. First off the game has already been out in Japan for quite a while, since October 11th 2012, so it's good to see the game has been localized to the rest of the world, unfortunately it seems that North America is getting it latest, in fact we're the only ones who still haven't had it released! No worries though, our patience will shine through the dark and we'll get our hands on the game soon enough!

With this demo you get a fairly long several hour special game segment that's sort of like a standalone game, filled with side quests, monster fighting, and job changes. Unfortunately we don't get to see any real storyline or plot through the demo, but at the same time I'm glad, since it gives us the opportunity to see the characters and the story when it comes out. The demo seems to be more of a showcasing of the games mechanics, while also providing the player with some bonuses for playing the demo when the full title arrives. The demo has you run around doing generic side quests and fighting generic bosses, and provides you with a selection of character classes to switch between to complete these objectives.

The mechanics to the game are fairly simple, taking on the basic turn based rpg style and adding some bonus features such as changing character classes outside battle, carrying over abilities, and going between brave and default stances in combat. I'm going to start by saying that the job system in this game reminds me heavily of the one featured in Final Fantasy III, which was one of my favorite Final Fantasy games, so I very much enjoyed getting a chance at changing classes between the characters. The default and brave stances are a major component to the gameplay which basically act as an action point system, and can potentially be used to provide extra actions per turn, leading to strategic usage of your actions in combat. The game isn't too risk taking and provides for a standard turn based rpg game, which I know many of you enjoy.

Art I've seen for this game has been very beautiful, and the concepts based behind the game are wonderful. The in-game graphics remind me fondly of the remakes of Final Fantasy III & IV on the DS, which happens to be a fairly simple minimalist style. Showcasing the wonderful graphical capabilities of the 3DS, the game can be nice to gaze upon in its' simple glory. In my humble opinion the game's demo seems to have an enjoyable soundtrack and hopefully the full game will share in that aspect.

Bravely Default's demo was an enjoyable experience overall, and I look forward to playing the full game when it arrives on American soil.

Super Smash Brothers for Wii U and 3DS

Hey guys! This game has been in high anticipation since it's announcement at 2013 E3! I remember playing the previous title for this game with Izzy himself back when I was very young. It's a part of a very fond childhood memory and is partly responsible for the reason why I love playing video games so much! Not much is known about this game other than the E3 trailer back in 2013. Here it is again for you guys that missed it or are still in the dark.

The trailer shows the arrival of the Villager from Nintendo's popular Animal Crossing series, Megaman from the popular Megaman series and they released some other rosters so far that are different from the previous games. For example:

Here is the list so far taken from IGN

It's quite exciting right? When will this game be released? Nintendo still has not revealed the official date for this game to come out, but so far I've read hints that it will be sometime during the Spring of 2014! I hope you guys will come back and check up for more information regarding this game on this blog and pick it up yourself when it comes out. Maybe it'll be the system seller that Wii U seems to desperately need right now.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remastered

Hey guys. This has been circulating the web for some time now, but Square Enix has decided to release the Final Fantasy X/X-2 remastered in HD for both the PS3 (in one bundle) and the PSVita (as separate).

then!

This game was a huge critical and commercial success (Wikipedia if you don't believe me) back during the PS2 era and is my personal favorite Final Fantasy game of ALL time. Yes of ALL TIME!!!!! (Final Fantasy Tactics come to the a close second :D)

The now :D

Well in Japan this HD remastered version for both the PS3 and the PSVita has finally come out, and let me say, the developers did a wonderful job. For those of you who want to see the Let's Play, here it is:

Now, personally, I'm not as tech savvy as I would like to be, so I actually had to look up a comparison video to see if it really was any different from the original one, so for you guys who are just as technologically average like me, I'll post the comparisons video as well.

The one on the right is HD :D

There were some parts of the HD that I didn't particularly like too much, but I personally am going to get this in the States (when it comes out in March 18 2014!) because I love portable gaming and now this game is portable! Finally Tidus and Yuna can be on the go and school won't hinder me too much from playing this game.

From watching the walkthroughs, everything has definitely become cleaner, and much more defined than the previous versions and the coloring has become more realistic too. I read in an article somewhere that if this HD remastered version will do well, Square Enix will work on a second sequel for the game! A Final Fantasy X-3! Isn't exciting! My roommate (in college) and I personally love this game and hope another sequel will come to fruition. Hopefully its doing better than the Final Fantasy XIII and it's sequels.

If you guys are as excited for this game as I am, please leave it in the comment and pre-order it now! Amazon seems to be selling the Vita version as a bundle as well! for both games! Japan also got a special Vita just for this game, maybe the US will have something similar as well!
For those of you who have no idea what this game is pick it up! It has already sold over 500k copies (both versions combined) in Japan within the month of its release! It is also one heck of a game. It has beautiful story elements that seem to be lacking in most video games these days.

The characters are surprisingly deep and develop immensely throughout the story and game is a good length so its definitely worth your money. Heck they're giving you two games for a price that's cheaper than most of the popular single game. This was also one of the last Final Fantasy game that seemed to have made a tidal wave in the RPG genre and definitely within the Final Fantasy categories of games. Pick it up, try it, and fall in love with it. Realize the beauty that is Spira, the love that is between Tidus and Yuna, and the innate joy that comes with finishing a masterpiece of a game!
